PERIODONTICS

SURGICAL Periodontal TREATMENTS

Tongue-Tie Release

When a child, teen or adult have the inability to have full function and range of motion of their tongue, it inhibits proper growth and development of the jaws, face and airway. If not recognized early on, it can to lead to sleep disordered breathing, severe dental crowding, narrow arch development, mouth breathing, enlargement of tonsils and adenoids and so on.

A state-of-the-art dental laser is able to effectively release the tongue tie with minimal bleeding, post operative discomfort and decreased healing times.

Frenectomy

The lips are attached to the gums through thin tissue enclosing muscle fibers called a frenulum or frenum. As development and growth occur they may end up attaching to the gums in positions that inhibit or hinder development and growth of both the jaws and teeth.

With the use of a laser over a traditional scalpel, we are able to release the frenum and achieve more predictable results with decreased healing times and reduced post operative discomfort.

Crown Lengthening

When teeth are severely broken down this procedure allows for them to be saved as opposed to an extraction. Gum and bone tissue are removed using a dental laser to allow for enough space to fit a tooth for a crown. The gums heal for 4-6 weeks and then a crown is prepared for the tooth.

NON-SURGICAL Periodontal TREATMENTS

Scaling & Root Planing

After a patient is first diagnosed with periodontal disease, this is the first phase of treatment. A patient is numbed with local anesthesia in the area where it will be performed. Different types of instruments and dental scalers are used to removed plaque and tartar from the root surface underneath the gum line that would otherwise be unachievable during a routine cleaning.

Endodontics (Root Canals)

Root Canals

When a tooth is infected it may be indicated to perform a root canal. The procedure involves using little hand instruments and files to remove the nerve that is contained inside of the roots. After that is completed we fill them with an inert material to seal it off from the outside environment.

At Sipes Dental, we have a state-of-the-art dental laser that performs multiple functions. The laser is able to aid us in our root canals by flushing and cleaning out the canals more proficiently, thus ensuring all infection and bacteria are removed. It also allows us to remove less tooth structure when doing the root canal due to its efficient cleaning of the canals, and thus the long term prognosis of the tooth is increased.
